Corvallis: The Safest Place in the Nation?

The Benton County Courthouse in downtown Corvallis: the oldest still-active one in Oregon.
Crazy. For the second year in a row, Corvallis has been ranked the safest place to live by Farmers Insurance Group. “Corvallis isn’t the real world,” my Bostonian friend Dorothea likes to say.
Now you see why we’re having such culture shock coming here from Baltimore, one of the deadliest American cities. And yet I still ache for the place.
Is it the safest even if one rides a bike around town in the rain after dark with no lights?
I’m enjoying your blog, but the tags are listed down the right hand side of my page- on mine, below the big Baltimore header it says: Obama books Breitenbush”. I did a double take!

Cute! What if Obama came to Breitenbush! The tags are just to click on and their size lets you know how frequently I touch on that topic.
